Long, Dry Stretches

Long, warm, dry stretches are somewhat common in the month of September. It appears as though we are in line for one which may extend 7-9 days from today (Friday). How does that compare to other years?

Note that, by comparison, how long stretches are in January.

The new GOES-16 hi-res satellite images from today are quite telling. Note the cumulus convection inland, while the skies above the lake are completely clear!
