Sky Drama

Wednesday’s squall line certainly gave us a number of dramatic moments from the shelf cloud ahead of the rain, to some sunset mammatus clouds, lightning, and double-rainbows.

This image was from the near west side of Cleveland taken by one of my former weather interns, Lauren Hilko.

Most of the lightning in the Cleveland area occurred on the back side of the storm, occasionally framed by a double-rainbow.

We almost escaped the night without a tornado warning until 9:30 p.m. when this circulating “TVS” (tornado vortex signature) popped up in Columbiana County.

Needless to say, Wednesday was an unusually long work day… which made the leisure Thursday morning coffee and quiet, sunny weather seem extra relaxing.
