Andre Bernier is a meteorologist on staff at WJW-Television in Cleveland, Ohio and has been serving there since January 1988.

For nearly two decades, Andre delivered forecasts to the weekday morning audience until his move to weekday evenings in May of 2007, joining the dean of Cleveland weather, Dick Goddard. André is now enjoying his 26th year at FOX 8.

Andre’s career actually began when, at the age of 15, he delivered weekend forecasts on his hometown radio station, WBSM-1420AM in New Bedford, Massachusetts for three years. He attended Lyndon State College in Vermont where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology in 1981 and started a student-run weather forecasting service called the New England Weather Network which provided radio forecasts for a number of stations.

Andre’s professional career began in May of 1981 when he landed his first job as weekday morning and noon meteorologist at WMT-TV (now KGAN-TV) in Cedar Rapids Iowa.  From there, he joined the then speculative project that launched The Weather Channel.  On May 2, 1982, he and Bruce (Kalinowski) Edwards were the very first meteorologists to appear when TWC made its debut to the cable world!  (Watch the video clip below!)

Just prior to moving to Cleveland, Andre worked at Northwest Airline as a trans-Atlantic flight meteorologist as well as at KARE-TV-11, the NBC affiliate in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

André’s wife, Sally, is also a degreed meteorologist who retired from television in 2009 to be a stay-at-home Mom. They have one son, Noah, who was born in 1997.  All three are aviation enthusiasts.  Sally earned her private pilot’s license in 2010 and André has been a pilot since 1983, added his instrument rating in 2010, and is working on his commercial pilot’s license.

He is also a published author with his first book, The Extra Mile, published in the summer of 2011 and is available on His second and most recent release, God’s Word Is Like Doppler Radar was released in May of 2013. Both titles are available via and

André is a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. His Christian faith and journey deepened after moving to Cleveland where he was spiritually mentored by a number of area pastors. This ignited his passion for ministry and after nearly a decade of post-graduate study, was ordained in 2004 at Grace Community Church in Massillon, Ohio by a board of local ministers who mentored him.  André serves as an interim transitional pastor at Grace Community Church in Massillon and is a member of Faith Family Church in North Canton, Ohio.
